Groove Armada promise great show for Live at Loch Lomond fans

GROOVE Armada played Rock Ness last year to a fantastic response - but frontman Tom Findlay reveals fans will hear a completely new set at Loch Lomond.

He said: "Rock Ness was great but we have changed our show a great deal since then so our little crowd should come down to check it out.

"This is the only gig we're doing in Scotland this year.

"It's a bit tougher. There's not a massive amount of new material but it's all been tweaked and is sounding good."

This year Tom and bandmate Andy Cato will be without ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena.

Tom said: "She is too busy so we have done a Mutya-less version which is very dark acid house where we unleash something really exciting in the middle."

Tom and Andy run the Lovebox Weekender which winds up today in London so he appreciates how hard it is competing with the festival big boys.

That's why playing Live At Loch Lomond on August 2 is more exciting for Tom than Glastonbury or T in the Park.

He said: "I love the sound of this festival and know the blood, sweat and tears that have gone in to getting it going.

"Loch Lomond has an intimate boutiquey feel which is nice and it's more exciting for me to headline a newer festival.

"You get up close with the punters and get the know the organisers - it's more human than the big corporate events."

Tom also feels the trend of big companies sponsoring festivals is driving people away - so he and Andy will never sell their event's name.

He said: "We are proud we're not part of one of the big three or four companies who own pretty much every music event.

"People are fed up with that whole corporate thing"
