Madonna is best of the festival

MADONNA proved she is still the queen of pop last night with a sizzling set at Radio 1's Big Weekend festival.

The Material Girl showcased tracks from new album Hard Candy - including latest single 4 Minutes - as well as greatest hits.

A staggering 30,000 fans attended the free event in Maidstone, Kent, which also included sets from Scots rockers The Fratellis, Duffy, Usher and The Feeling.

More than 500,000 Radio One listeners applied for tickets to the party, which were allocated by a lottery system.
