KT ready to be a gay icon in the United States

SCOTS singer KT Tunstall has become a gay icon in the States - thanks to her colourful fashion sense.

The 32-year-old wears a pair of rainbow braces on the cover of the US version of her album Eye To The Telescope - and the bright symbol is an iconic emblem for lesbians.

KT, of St Andrews, said: "It was a genuine oversight. I had a wacky stylist turn up with a bag of clothes and I loved the suspenders.

"None of us caught it because the rainbow thing is not that prevalent in the UK.

"Then friends in San Francisco emailed saying, 'We love the rainbow suspenders... and so do all the other girls in San Francisco.'

KT got engaged to her drummer and musical director Luke Bullen over Christmas and they plan to wed in Scotland.
