Exclusive Reunited Rockers Return To Fest After 14 Years
SCOTS rockers Gun enjoyed playing T in the Park so much they are coming back for more - 14 years later.
The hit Glasgow band have re-formed - by public demand - to play the festival's Main Stage on July 12.
When they line up alongside R.E.M., The Verve and Amy Winehouse it will bring back fond memories of their first ever T.
The group - led by brothers Jools and Dante Gizzi - appeared at the inaugural festival at Strathclyde Park in 1994.
They only got together again to raise cash for charity.
Last November, Gun were presented with a Tartan Clef award by Nordoff Robbins (Scotland). They then played a fundraiser for them at Glasgow's Garage which raised £10,000.
Guitarist Jools and bassist Dante - formerly of El Presidente - reunited with original drummer Alan Thornton and recruited rock singer Toby Jepson of The Little Angels to wow 600 fans.
Jools said: "We thought it would be great to play Gun songs such as Better Days, WordUpand Steal Your Fire for a bit of fun.
"We had such a brilliant time and the audience reaction was amazing, so we thought, 'Let's do it again.'"
If T is a success, Gun may stay together to mark the 20th anniversary of their 1989 debut album, Taking On The World.
They split after eight years after a farewell gig at Glasgow's Barrowland.
Their only other appearance was at a benefit gig staged by the Sunday Mail at the SECC in 1999 which raised £225,000 for Kosovo.
The re-formed band now can't wait to grace the stage at Balado.
Jools said: "I'll never forget that first T at Strathclyde Park. It was brilliant.
"It was fantastic looking out on 30,000 people - and to hear them sing Better Days and Shame On You was amazing.
"It's an honour to be playing T 14 years later. We think Gun songs are timeless - they've still got a bit of spark to them."
