Mail Music Reviews Sex And The City (15) *****
When they sashayed off our screens four years ago, Carrie Bradshaw and co left a void bigger than the waiting list for the latest Chloe handbag. But with last week's release of the long-awaited Sex And The City movie, it's time to stop crying into your Cosmo.
In a neat recap at the start, Sarah Jessica Parker's voiceover tells how writer Carrie's life has been a rollercoaster in the 20 years since she moved to New York.
Now 40, she's racked up three best-selling books and is finally talking marriage and happy-ever-after with love of her life Mr Big.
Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is blissfully happy with hubby Harry (Evan Handler) and their adopted Chinese daughter Lily.
Lawyer Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is still living in Brooklyn with son Brady and hubby Steve (David Eigenberg) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is missing Manhattan like mad having moved to LA to manage boyfriend Smith's (Jason Lewis) movie career. There's trouble when Miranda sends Steve packing after he cheats. Samantha's struggling with monogamy (again) and Charlotte frets that she'll lose her longed-for unborn baby.
But it's Carrie's carry-on with Big that will have you reaching for the Kleenex - as there's a bust-up of nuclear proportions.
Her chums are there, of course, to pick her up afterwards and I challenge you not to blub as Samantha spoon feeds breakfast to a broken and bed-ridden Carrie.
The one-liners are sharper than a stiletto and the fashion is fabulous.
Gay best friends Stanford (Willie Garson) and Anthony (Mario Cantone) are back and Jennifer Hudson as Carrie's new assistant 'Saint' Louise from St Louis is fantastic.
Even if your high heels are more Matalan than Manolo Blahnik, shoe-horn in your tootsies and teeter on down to see it.
