MOVIES OUT FRIDAY

PATHFINDER (15)
Lord Of The Rings star Karl Urban stars in this all-action tale of a young Viking accidentally left behind after an attack on America. He grows up with a tribe of natives and leads their defence against renewed attacks.

THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 (18)
Why Hollywood felt the need to inflict this sequel on us I have no idea. This second vatload of blood and guts will appeal to the bloodthirsty lot who lapped up the first film - both times. Utter nonsense and uber-violent.
Rating: *

MR BEAN'S HOLIDAY (U)
The ever-irritating Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson, above) heads to Cannes in a cringeworthy display of slapstick. I can see why kids go for this rubbish but any adults who enjoy it need help. Still, at least this one is in aid of Comic Relief.

MEET THE ROBINSONS (U)
The latest animated flick fails fairly miserably when it comes to appealing to adults but kids will lap it up. A boy invents a memory machine but somehow travels into the future and endangers a family he meets.
Rating: ***

THE NAMESAKE(12A)
This tale of an Indian family emigrating from Calcutta to Boston is surprisingly lightweight. Son Gogol adapts immediately, adopting an all-American lifestyle while daughter Ashima faces an arranged marriage.
