DEEP WATER (PG)
The tale of yachtsman Donald Crowhurst who, in 1968, entered a round-the-world solo race which killed him. His story is brought to life by many of the team who worked on the brilliant Touching The Void. Compelling stuff.

SPECIAL (15)
This brilliantly quirky, funny, dark tale plays on our fears about new drugs and their side effects. Michael Rapaport is a loser traffic warden obsessed with comics who thinks he develops special powers thanks to a trial drug.

JOY DIVISION (15)
Prepare to be disappointed if you are hoping for a nostalgic look at Manchester's finest. There's just a decidedly shaky plot about a German spy (Ed Stoppard) heading for London and recalling unpleasant incidents.

CASINO ROYALE(12A)
I've avoided Bond movies as, let's face it, they're for kids. But this offers a darker slant on the secret agent story, with Daniel Craig (above) a great Bond. Less CGI and more realistic action makes this the best 007 flick for years.
