THE PRESTIGE (12A) 4/5
Scarlett Johansson, Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman head the cast as a pair of warring Victorian magicians - and as expected the pair are on fine form. It's a darkly compelling tale of an escalating feud that leads to one man's death.
BREAKING AND ENTERING (15) 2/5
Young Bosnian thief Rafi Gavron uses the bizarre art of Parkour - running over urban obstacles - to escape from burglaries. But a victim (Jude Law) follows him and becomes fascinated by the boy's mother (Juliette Binoche).
TWELVE AND HOLDING (15) 2/5
Six Feet Under director Michael Cuesta returns to movies with a dark study of childhood and adolescence. His three young lead characters are more than the average kid, with guns being waved. It's all very heavy going.
STARTER FOR TEN (12A) 3/5
The sort of much loved Britcom that excites Hugh Grant fans but Scot James McAvoy takes the lead instead of the floppy haired fop. He's Brian, a student who signs up for his college's University Challenge team to impress a girl.
BARNYARD (PG) 5/5
One major point with this animated flick - male cows with udders? That aside, this is a cheery barnyard tale with creatures partying during the night.
Kevin James, Courtney Cox and David Koechner are among the voices.
