Trainspotting's Kevin McKidd is the new Highlander in remake

TRAINSPOTTING actor Kevin McKidd is set to star as Connor MacLeod in a remake of cult movie Highlander.

McKidd, 35, who stars in sexy historical drama Rome, says he has been approached by a film company about the lead role in the claymores-winging sci-fi adventure.

The original version of the film starred Scotsman Sean Connery, playing a Spaniard, while Frenchman Christopher Lambert was the immortal MacLeod.

McKidd, from Elgin, also played a Scot in romantic comedy Made of Honor.
