Ten women who have fallen for Hollywood star George Clooney

He's Nearing 50, With Greying Hair And The Love Of His Life Was A Potbellied Pig Yet Women Can't Resist George Clooney. Lesley Roberts Looks At 10 Of His Most Famous Fans...

SENSIBLE Sarah Brown was reduced to a giggling schoolgirl this week as the Swooney Clooney factor hit Britain.

Grown women should know better but it seems no one is immune to the charms of George Clooney, here to promote movie Leatherheads.

Even straight-laced BBC Breakfast news presenter Louise Minchin could barely contain her delight at getting up close to Clooney for an interview.

George, 46, even makes politics interesting. He is a supporter of Barack Obama, a UN peace envoy and outspoken critic of the humanitarian crisis in Darfur.

He could be the first truly cool, unspeakably delicious, world leader.

His response to the suggestion is typically smooth: "I couldn't run for office. I've slept with far too many women, I've done too many drugs and I've been to too many parties."

No claims he didn't inhale. No denials over sexual relations with that woman. George admits he has done it all.

You gotta love him for it - and lots of women do, from A-list actresses and TV presenters to politicians' wives.

Renee Zellweger first fell for his charms in 2001 but they dated again in 2006 and she still carries a torch.

When George asked her to appear in Letterheads she didn't even have to read the script before agreeing.

She said: "He doesn't even know how important his opinion is to me. I don't want to disappoint him."

Prime Minister's wife Sarah met the actor when he arrived at Downing Street last week to talk to her husband about the crisis in Sudan.

But she was more interested in getting her photo taken with him.

So far Mad Men actress Talia Balsam is the only woman to have secured the title Mrs Clooney. The four-year marriage ended in 1993 and George has been a confirmed bachelor since.

She said: "He has three loves in his life, in this order - himself, his pig and whoever else happens to be sharing his bed."

Perched on the BBC Breakfast sofa, Louise Minchin's seemingly unflappable decorum was lost when she spotted George in a lift. She practically levered open the doors to get in.

Former Las Vegas cocktail waitress Sarah Larson is his new squeeze. She is the small-town girl who snared the Hollywood heart-throb. He was filming Oceans 13, she was serving drinks.

Mum-of-two Mariella Frostrup met George at the Cannes Film Festival in 1999 and instantly fell for his charms.

She said: "I love George. He is clever, funny, generous, politically committed and constantly inspiring."

George and actress Kelly Preston set up home in 1987. She bought him Max, his beloved Vietnamese pot-bellied pig, before going on to marry John Travolta.

Desperate Housewife Teri Hatcher was no slouch when it came to bagging a hunk. Though they never confirmed the claims, she and George looked like they were getting cozy back in 2006.

She said: "I read he sent me a teddy bear and chocolates on Valentine's Day. I'm like 'Did he? I didn't get them'."

George and Lucy Liu dated briefly in 2000 and were spotted feeding each other oysters a few years later. If Lucy couldn't beat him into submission with all her Charlie's Angels training, he's not easy to break.

But in case anyone thinks George would be an anti-climax, ex-love Lisa Snowdon can put your mind at rest.

The British model and presenter, who met him on the set of a Martini ad in 2000, told pals that in bedroom terms "George deserves 11 out of 10".
