TOUTS are demanding £2000 for tickets to see Ewan McGregor in a Shakespeare play.

The Star Wars actor will play the villainous Iago in a London West End production of Othello which opens on December 4.

But touts are charging £1700 to £2000 for a single ticket for the play, which will have a 12-week run at the Donmar Warehouse.

Seats originally cost from £15 to £29 but sold out within 24 hours.

One source said: "You might expect this kind of prices for big football matches but not a play. Ewan is the hottest ticket in town."

Dirty Pretty Things star Chitwetel Ejiofor is to play the lead role.

Eric Baker, boss of the ticket agency selling the £2000 seats, said: "Who'd have believed 400 years after it was written Othello would be the most popular ticket in town?"
