LADY IN THE WATER(12)
The latest offering from M. Night Shyamalan is a sort of modern-day fairy story. Caretaker Cleveland Heep (Paul Giamatti) finds an elf-like creature in his apartment block swimming pool. Strange but entertaining.

TALLADEGA NIGHTS (15)
More of the same from Will Ferrell, this time alongside the brilliant Sacha Baron Cohen. Will is Ricky Bobby, redneck racing driver and star, up against Cohen's slick, gay French F1 racer. Hilarious in places, plain silly in others.

A superb ensemble cast is the best thing about this twisty, turny drama which pulls together a series of previously unconnected people at 11.14 one night. The cast includes Hilary Swank, Patrick Swayze and Rachael Leigh Cook.

ART SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL (15)
If you're anything like me, the title of this film will have you running for the hills - and you'd be right. It's pretentious nonsense despite a great cast including Steve Buscemi, Angelica Huston, John Malkovich and Jim Broadbent. Rubbish.

DIRTY SANCHEZ (18)
Now this is more like it - give me some silly, funny violence and pain over arty tosh any day. The plot is absolute nonsense but who cares? What matters are the stunts - and there are some great ones. Great fun but for adults only.
