Jamie Murray makes it double joy as he proceeds to next round

JAMIE MURRAY helped make it a winning family double on People's Saturday at Wimbledon as he chases his second successive title at the All England Club.

As Andy was sending a capacity Centre Court crowd wild with delight by winning his singles match, elder brother Jamie was doing the same with supporters on Court One.

Jamie and men's doubles partner Max Mirnyi defeated American James Cerretani and Victor Hanescu of Romania 6-4 6-4 7-6 (6-0).

The Dunblane star became the first Briton in 20 years to win a senior title at Wimbledon when he lifted the mixed doubles with Jelena Jankovic last year.

And he has two chances to follow that up with another victory with Mirnyi and in the mixed doubles with South African Liezel Huber.

It's the first time the Murray Brothers have made it to the second week of Wimbledon together but Jamie said: "It's only the second time we've played here together.

"But it's good to know we're both in the second week and hopefully we can keep winning and give the fans something to cheer for."

Asked about his developing partnership with Mirnyi, who he hooked up with at the start of the year, Jamie said: "It has been good on grass so far.

"We made the semi-finals at Queen's and we've won two matches at Wimbledon.

"It's going to get a lot tougher now but if we keep working on being more of a team then we'll see the results."

Murray reckons Mirnyi does well at picking him up when frustration creeps in to his game.

He said: "In the third set I started to get a bit agitated and he was aware of it.

"I was starting to get a bit tired and he realised he had to push me the last 20 minutes of the match to get through it.

"But that comes from experience. I'm sure he has been in that situation before and he pushed me through and we won the tie-breaker.

"I guess as the partnership develops we'll get a better understanding. You get to know each other's habits and what's going to make each other tick on court."
