Tony Yanks Lucky Stars

FORMER Gretna keeper Tony Caig admits he could have been in the dole queue as the bubble burst at Raydale Park.

Instead he found himself one game away from a possible crack at this year's Champions League winners with Houston Dynamo.

Caig signed for the MLS outfit weeks before Gretna went into administration in March.

And his new side just missed out on a place at the glamorous World Club Championship after losing to Costa Rican outfit Saprissa.

Relieved Caig said: "Everyone seems to be on a sticky wicket at Gretna. I was all set to sign a contract but then had the chance to come to America. I definitely made the right choice."
