Speedway: Tigers Get Tamed By Leaders

FIRED-UP Berwick Bandits stayed at the top of the Premier League last night after taming the red-hot Sheffield Tigers 52-41.

Adrian Rymel collected 14 points with Michal Makovsky netting 13.

Andre Compton replied with 13 of his own but Berwick held out.

Promoter Peter Waite said: "Sheffield are tipped as champions but our guys turned it on.

We intend to stay ahead of the pack."

Elsewhere, Glasgow Tigers were thumped 60-32 at Workington Comets in the Premier Trophy.

Ross Brady and Shane Parker scored seven points with Kauko Nieminen grabbing 15 for Comets.
