Phone In

In Association With Setanta Sports

CELTIC are back on top of the table and have just won an Old Firm game so everything should be right in the green world, right? Wrong.

It was like running the Hoops Complaints Bureau on last night's phone-in as fans let rip with a selection of gripes.

Gary Tiffoney, Shawlands, Glasgow, said: "We're back in the title race but I have a horrible feeling Gordon Strachan will bring back Scott Brown for Sunday's Old Firm game. Brown has never done anything for us against Rangers so Barry Robson must retain his place or Celtic might as well just concede the league."

A bit harsh.

Graeme McNaughton, Elderslie, said: "I know Georgios Samaras scored the winner against Aberdeen but he had a poor game.

"I can see now why Manchester City were glad to lend him out and why Strachan prefers Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. I won't be happy unless he's back on the bench against Rangers."

Perhaps he's one of the new breed of "impact" players who fare better as a sub.

Jamie Carruthers, Glasgow, said: "I'm not a Strachan fan but he surpassed himself on Friday when he said he knew nothing about Gary Caldwell being banned as a result of the Old Firm game.

"What planet is he on? Everyone and his granny knew this and it's time we appointed a manager who is more switched on."

Strachan says he doesn't read the papers - perhaps he should start.

Tam McGeown, Bellshill, said: "I can't believe Caldwell. He has his first decent game for Celtic then gets involved in a needless scuffle after we've won.

"He shouldn't get paid as punishment.

Strachan should also hand back his pay for taking off Robson. Thewinwas down to good luck more than good management."

It seemed a strange move but the manager had the last laugh.

Declan Mulhearn, Dumbarton, was more upbeat. He said: "Nine points from the last three games shows Celtic have their consistency back and it looks to me as if the Rangers bubble has burst. If we beat them again on Sunday the title can be ours."

You're booked to do Sunday's team talk.

Ian Grant, Falkirk, said: "I have fresh hope and if Strachan pulls off a title win I'll be nominating him for canonisation. I don't think there is a St Gordon at the moment."

Not sure if he'd fancy that - don't you have to be dead first?

Alan Kerr, Crookston, Glasgow, felt Rangers were kicked off the park by Celtic.

He said: "Robson, Vennegoor of Hesselink and Paul Hartley should have been sent off for their behaviour.

"If they try it again on Sunday, Rangers might respond and it could end up a war."

Let's hope common sense prevails.

Finally, Isabella Livingstone, Glasgow, said: "Well done to Hamilton Accies on their promotion. Manager Billy Reid has built a talented and disciplined team that will be a credit to the SPL."

With their best players they'll do well.
