St Mirren face flit delay

ST MIRREN may be forced to wait until next year before they are allowed to move into their new, purpose-built stadium.

Work has started on the 8,000-capacity St Mirren Park and it should be completed by November.

However, the SPL are almost certain to make the Paisley club wait until 2009 before letting them switch from Love Street.

A league spokesman said: "St Mirren may need to wait a little longer before being given approval to relocate.

"When Inverness were promoted in 2004 they shared with Aberdeen while their stadium was upgraded.

"They were allowed to move back into their own ground but not until they had played all the other clubs once at Pittodrie."
