MARK McGHEE highlighted the huge financial gulf between Motherwell and UEFA Cup rivals Nancy - then challenged his men to bridge it.
The Well boss knows Nancy will fancy their chances when they come to Fir Park on Thursday after watching his side fail to fire on all cylinders so far this season.
That coupled with the vast difference in spending power between the French club and his cash-strapped outfit ranks the Steelmen clear outsiders as they look to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit.
But McGhee isn't fazed and assured the fans they will be looking to outgun the favourites.
He said: "We are shackled by financial constraints whereas Nancy received around £26million in TV money last year. But we still expect to beat them.
"I was disappointed I wasn't able to add more to the squad in the summer to cope with Europe.
"Financially everything seemed to be out of our reach.
"The 12 or 13 guys we have here are good enough but to replace them with someone that's going to raise the standard is beyond our means."
What McGhee has is a talented squad who have yet to click in the same way they did last term.
Mark added: "Nancy wouldn't have been impressed with us after the first game.
"So I expect them to look for an early goal and maybe risk more than they should."
