Motherwell clash will give me chance to put Hibs heartache behind me, says Nancy star Frederic Biancalani

NANCY defender Frederic Biancalani can't wait to finally star in Scotland - seven years after injury robbed him of a dream move to Hibernian.

Biancalani, 34, was on trial at Hibs in 2001 but despite impressing, an injury wrecked his hopes of being offered a deal.

Instead he returned to France where he helped Nancy make their way back to the top flight.

Now, after his side came fourth in Ligue 1 last season, he'll be back in Scotland to take on Motherwell in the UEFA Cup.

Biancalani said: "I know a lot about Scottish football as I've followed it since I nearly moved to Hibs under Alex McLeish.

"He invited me for a trial and liked what he saw. I was ready to sign but picked up an injury and Hibs pulled their offer.

"I always wondered what it would be like to play in Scotland and now I've the chance with Nancy and I can't wait."
