Hibs V Motherwell Thursday, Kick-Off 7.45pm
ROSS McCORMACK hasn't planned a farewell gesture for Motherwell fans but admits Thursday's game at Hibs will almost certainly be his last for the club.
The in-demand striker looks destined for the English Premiership with Wigan favourites to snap him up on a Bosman.
And while McCormack is refusing to rule out staying at Fir Park to boost Mark McGhee's UEFA Cup adventure next season he knows it's more likely the trip to Easter Road will be his swansong.
Ross said: "I always said I would wait until the end of the season then take everything into account before deciding my future and that hasn't changed. I don't know where I will be playing next term and it is still possible I'll stay on with Motherwell.
"But it's probable I am moving south so chances are this will be my farewell.
"I haven't planned to say goodbye to the fans simply because I could be back next season. What I am sure of though is Motherwell have been a great club for me and Mark McGhee and Scott Leitch saved my career."
McCormack admits Well are delighted the last SPL fixture will be an anti-climax having already sealed third spot.
But McGhee's men showed they are still bang in form with their 1-1 draw with Rangers at Fir Park yesterday.
He said: "We didn't want to be going to Easter Road needing a point as it's such a tough place to go and get a result.
"We'd always looked at our home games in the run-in against Aberdeen and Dundee United as the key because if we did well in them we could go to Hibs without a problem.
"We're glad it has turned out that way but we'll be looking to win and finish on a high."
That Well have turned a tragic season overshadowed by the death of skipper Phil O'Donnell in December into a hugely successful campaign is testament to the character within McGhee's squad.
And McCormack reckons going from relegation battlers to finishing third within a year has to be ranked among the club's greatest achievements.
He said: "It's massive and I don't think anything will come close in my career after what we've come through this season.
"Phil's death brought all of us closer together and it was a big motivation to finish the job in his honour."
