McFadden Cash Key To Keeping Ross

MARK McGHEE is set to plough the cash Motherwell receive From James McFadden's move to Birmingham back into the team and aims to use it to keep star striker Ross McCormack.

The Fir Park club will receive a windfall of around £600,000 as part of a sell-on clause for former player Faddy who sealed a £5.5million switch to City from Everton.

And keeping McCormack, who is being tracked by Wigan and Middlesbrough, will be Well gaffer McGhee's priority.

The 21-year-old's agent John Brown is believed to have held talks with Boro but McGhee is confident he can keep the Scotland B international who is out of contract this summer.

McGhee said: "As well as the McFadden deal we already have money to spend. I want to use some of that to keep Ross.

"Ross told me he wants to stay and even if we have to take a loss on what we might make he is here until summer at least."
