RAGING Jim Jefferies blasted his sloppy Kilmarnock side and warned them not to believe the hype after their excellent start to the season.
The Rugby Park gaffer felt too many of his players were puffed up with overblown self-belief after beating Aberdeen in the cup.
Jefferies said: "We let ourselves down. For 20 minutes we hardly gave them a sniff then it all changed.
"We went from being in complete control to withdrawing into a shell after their equaliser.
"What worries me is that none of the application and shape of earlier in the season was in evidence.
"You could talk of tiredness after three games in six days, but maybe too many of them were believing all the good press."
Jefferies also held fire over the Caley penalty award. He said: "Our lads were certain there was no contact but I'll have to see it myself."
Opposite number Craig Brewster was delighted with his side's showing.
He said: "There had been a lot of talk going into the game about how good Killie were.
"Today we showed we are not a bad side too.
"There were a lot of very good performances and we showed great character."
