SCOTLAND B star Chris Iwelumo bagged a double as Kilmarnock were taught a lesson by rampant Wolves.
On this evidence it could be another difficult season for Jim Jefferies' men as their defence was cut apart at will.
Mick McCarthy's Championship outfit dominated and former St Mirren striker Iwelumo proved a handful.
Wolves stormed ahead in 23 minutes when Michael Gray floated in a free-kick and Iwelumo nodded in.
It got worse for Killie nine minutes later when Jamie Hamill was short with a passback.
Matt Jarvis intercepted and although his initial shot was saved by keeper Damien Rascle, Jarvis cut the rebound back for Sam Vokes to tap in.
Killie could have reduced the deficit four minutes after the break when Frazer Wright went close with a header from a Gary Locke free-kick.
Then sub Ryan O'Leary saw a header deflected just wide from Locke's corner as Killie pressed for a goal.
But Wolves ended Killie's hopes of making a fight of it when they added a third in the 56th minute.
Dan Jones' flighted cross from the left was glanced home by Iwelumo who was given far too much space by a hesitant defence.
Half-time sub keeper Chad Harper dealt with a long-range Mark Davies effort as Wolves threatened to embarrass the Ayrshire men.
Killie introduced Italian trialist Manuel Pascali from Parma in the 63rd minute as Jefferies tried to change things with a host of subs but he failed to impress.
The home side's strikeforce of David Fernandez and Danny Invincibile looked punchless as Killie rarely threatened.
Fernandez did his best to help Killie find a consolation when he threaded a glorious pass through to sub Iain Flannigan but he drove his effort just wide with only keeper Carl Ikerne to beat.
Wolves ended the match in cruise control and eased their foot off the gas which was lucky for Killie.
Now Jefferies has two weeks to lift morale and presumably add to his squad before the big kick-off.
