KILMARNOCK gaffer Jim Jefferies hailed one of his side's best away displays of the season but bemoaned their lack of a killer instinct in front of goal.
The Rugby Park outfit created a host of chances against Hibs but squandered them all. At the other end strike ace Steven Fletcher was at his deadly best at the other end with his goal sealing the win following Felipe Morais' opener.
Jefferies has had to contend with the loss of three top hitmen in the last two years with Kris Boyd and Steven Naismith joining Rangers while Colin Nish lined up against Killie at Easter Road.
Deputy frontman Danny Invincibile missed a couple of cracking chances but Jefferies couldn't fault his side for their effort.
He said: "That was our best away performance for a long time. But what Hibs have and we don't is a cutting edge up front.
"For spells in the game we were by far the better side.
"We had lots of possession and created chances. Danny isn't an out-and-out striker but if we don't take our chances we know we'll get punished.
"We had a free-kick in the second half, hit it badly, and Hibs' one man up the pitch ran 30 yards to score. You won't win games if you give goals like that away.
"I need a goalscorer and that's something I'll have to sort out in the summer.
"If we had Nish and Naismith up front for us, for example, I'm sure we'd have won the game today."
Killie's best player was little Moroccan Mehdi Taouil who weaved his magic all day but still ended up on the losing side.
Jefferies said: "He was terrific but just lacked a little bit of end product.
"He was one of many pluses for us today. We played well and I think because of the Gretna situation the players relaxed a bit more."
