SUPERSUB Rory McAllister notched a late hat-trick to show Craig Brewster he's more than an able replacement for Marius Niculae.
A day after the Romanian's £500,00 switch to Dinamo Bucharest, McAllister scored three times in 30 minutes to earn Caley a draw in an entertaining match.
It was a tough shift for Brewster's men and the Danes controlled the flow of play for long periods before tiring and allowing the Highlanders to launch a fightback.
It should have been a straightforward test for the SPL side against a modest Danish provincial side with four part-time players starting the game.
But Herfolge - who finished fourth in their country's First Division - quickly began to dictate the play.
They took the lead in 19 minutes when Sebastian Andersen's cross flew in from the left and Lionel Djebi Zadi skewed a headed clearance attempt past the helpless Michael Fraser.
There was more defensive disarray in Thistle's backline five minutes later.
Rene Belling crossed from the wing and the unmarked Henrik Toft rose to beat the onrushing Fraser with ease.
Caley rallied and Adam Rooney, on trial from Stoke City, pulled one back in 41 minutes after good work from Ian Black.
Brewster changed his entire midfield at the break but the pattern continued in Herfolge's favour with Fraser pulling off a great full-stretch save to deny Lasse Kronberg.
But a minute later Mikael Rynall's corner found the head of Toft who steered the ball home for his second.
Inverness came close after sub Iain Vigurs' cross found McAllister but his close-range header was well saved.
But he made amends in 79 minutes when he managed to muscled through and fire in his side's second from a Barry Wilson pass.
McAllister doubled his tally when he thundered home a header three minutes later.
And the 21-year-old then lobbed the keeper to claim what looked like the winner in the 90th minute.
But Steen Trager forced home in injury-time to level.
