McAllister gets a heads up from Brewster

RORY McALLISTER hopes to seal his place in boss Craig Brewster's plans after helping Inverness hit Gretna for six yesterday.

The 20-year-old scored the second in Caley Thistle's 6-1 win. And it was a boost to his confidence after a season of frustration that has seen just two starts, a loan stint at Peterhead and a serious injury.

McAllister has just signed a new one-year deal and manager Brewster believes hewill have a major talent on his hands if the striker "gets his head right".

Rory said: "I think the boss means I have to improve on the mental side of my game.

"I tend to be my own worst enemy if I make a mistake as I beat myself up about it. I have to learn to shrug these things off. The Gretna game was only my second start of the season so it was good to get the goal.

"I had an inkling I would start as I was paired with Marius Niculae in training.

"In the last eight weeks I've started to come off the bench in games and I've hopefully taken my chance with this display. It was a great win and we hope to keep the momentum going."
