You can't have two Bank jobs

HEARTS boss Csaba Laszlo has told Steve Banks he can't combine playing with coaching.

The 36-year-old Englishman is battling with Jamie MacDonald for the No.1 jersey but Laszlo isn't happy with his position as goalkeeping coach.

Banks took the job when Jim Stewart left for Rangers last season but now has to choose his role at Tynecastle.

Laszlo said: "I am not happy Steve is goalkeeping coach and goalkeeper and this is what I would like to change quickly.

"I'd like to have a goalkeeper or a goalkeeping coach and he must decide.

"Steve is the No.1 and is steady in that position and Jamie is a bit behind as No.2."

Laszlo hasn't ruled out bringing in another shot stopper with Frenchman Anthony Basso set to leave.

On-trial Danish forward Mike Tullberg could sign up this week and ex-Uganda coach Laszlo added: "In two or three positions we need quality and competition for places. Twenty-five players is the ideal size of a squad and this is my target."

Meanwhile, striker Calum Elliot will be sent on loan to regain his confidence.

The 21-year-old netted just four goals in 27 games last season and Laszlo said: "It is necessary for Calum to have some change in his life, to get more experience.

"He is talented but he'll go on loan and after that we'll see."
