Berra's Scot To Be In It

HEARTS star Eggert Jonsson last night called on George Burley to name Christophe Berra in his Scotland squad for next month's friendly with Croatia.

The Jambos skipper was a rock as the Gorgie men made it four wins out of five with a 1-0 win at Motherwell.

Berra (right) has helped keep clean sheets in Hearts' last three victories and team-mate Jonsson wants to see him make the step up to international level.

The Icelandic ace, whose strike deflected off Stephen Craigan for the winner, said: "I don't think Christophe has been getting the credit he deserves for his performances.

"He has been a brilliant captain on and off the pitch - he deserves to get in the Scotland team. I'd love to claim the winner but my shotwas going for a throw."

Tynecastle boss Stephen Frail also sang Berra's praises and said: "Hopefully he will be included in the Scotland squad because he was fantastic again today."

Frail then played down talk of striker Andrius Velicka moving to Norwegian side Viking Stavanger in a £1million deal.

He said: "I'm not aware of a bid but maybe you should ask someone who deals with buying and selling players. Andrius hasn't declared an interest to leave but if he thinks it's a good move Mr Romanov won't stand in a player's way."
