I gave my kids twin bonuses

JOHN McCORMACK was £445 out of pocket just hours after joining Hamilton as assistant manager - but admits it's a small price to pay for a career lifeline.

Cowboy was riding high at getting back into full-time football and his twin boys Josh and Jack cashed in on their old man's good fortune by landing a new mobile phone each.

In fact all McCormack's family have been caught up in the feelgood factor since he secured a dream role with Accies after fearing his chance of making the big time had gone.

Cowboy, who will make his SPL bow tomorrow night when the new boys host Dundee United, said: "I have a new lease of life and am not the only one reaping the benefits.

"I get up at 5.30 to walk my dog Kye then enjoy breakfast with the family. The dog has never had it so good!

"I have 10 season tickets for my wife, kids, sister and her man. Even my mumwho's 78 has one - she's so happy her son is in the SPL.

"When I went for the interview I promised my 11-year-old twins I'd buy them mobiles if I got the job. After I gave them the good news they marched me down the shop and £445 later got their phones!"

McCormack loves working with gaffer Billy Reid and reckons Accies can hold their own in the top flight.

He said: "Billy is meticulous in his preparation and a total professional.

"The lads are also a great bunch and there is talent in the squad.

"If anyone thinks we rely on just James McCarthy and James McArthur they are way off the mark.

"Some young players used to spend more time finding out the best disco for a Saturday night than making sure they were physically and mentally ready for match day.

"That's not the case at Hamilton. There is great spirit and a willingness to work hard and learn. They will benefit by playing at a high level."
