RANGERS new boy Kyle Lafferty has urged gaffer Walter Smith to hand him a dream Ibrox debut by throwing him in at the deep end against Kaunas.
The Northern Ireland star came off the bench against Raith yesterday to set up Daniel Cousin's winner in the 2-1 victory at Stark's Park.
Now the £3million hitman has his sights set on making his competitive debut in the crucial Champions League qualifier on Wednesday night against the Lithuanians.
Despite lacking match sharpness, the former Burnley man is determined to play in front of Gers' home support in such a huge game.
He said: "I've had a longer rest than most of the boys because I was out at the end of last season with an appendix problem. So I'm feeling great and I'll be ready if the gaffer decides to start me against Kaunas.
"We all want to play in big games and to start at Ibrox in a Champions League match would be a dream.
"Even if I'm on the bench I'd want to come on and play my part.
"We've had a few tough games in pre-season but European action is massive for everyone at the club, the players and supporters."
Meanwhile Raith boss John McGlynn was delighted with the workout as they had Rangers on the ropes at times during the first half.
Goals from Nacho Novo and Daniel Cousin sealed the win after Kevin Smith had grabbed a shock opener.
McGlynn said: "We were excellent and scored a good goal. Rangers' class showed in the end and we lost concentration.
"But we won't face their quality in the Second Division so I have to feel pleased with our display."
