Walter: I'd take having to play 68 games again

WALTER SMITH insists he'd happily face another 68 games this season because it would mean another thrilling campaign on all fronts for Rangers.

The Ibrox boss knows the punishing schedule of last term ultimately caught up with his players as they chased glory at home and in Europe.

But Smith would welcome another marathon season if it means his side again go right to the wire chasing the title, the Scottish Cup and a Euro trophy.

And with two Champions League qualifiers to negotiate before the season has really got under way the Ibrox boss may yet face another 68-game campaign.

The Gers gaffer said: "We wouldn't have changed anything about last season.

"And if you don't change anything then we're left with the circumstances of this campaign to handle.

"If that means having to play 68 games again then that's what we've got to do. We've two qualifiers to start with because we didn't win the SPL and we've got to get on with it."
