CHARLIE ADAM has urged the Rangers squad to show they can cope without Barry Ferguson.
The Ibrox skipper has been ruled out for four months with an ankle injury - a headache Walter Smith didn't need at this point in time.
But Adam has challenged the players to get the right results during this period so Ferguson won't be missed.
The Gers midfielder said: "It is a blow to lose Barry. You don't want your captain out injured at any stage.
"But for him to be missing for the Champions League qualifiers and the first few league games is far from ideal.
"However, it means there is a place in midfield up for grabs and it is up to someone to go and make it their own.
"We need to show there is more to the Rangers first team than Barry. We need to prove we can win without him."
Adam knows Fergie will still be abround the dressing-roomevery day to pass on his experience and knowledge.
Charlie added: "Barry will always be an influence at Murray Park and some of the lads will continue to look to him for advice and guidance."
