Sionko: I had to quit Gers

RANGERS cast-off Libor Sionko insists he had to escape Ibrox to save his Euro 2008 dream.

The Czech star bagged a double against Scotland and showed signs of why Paul Le Guen signed him for Gers.

Sionko failed to shine in Glasgow and started just two games under Walter Smith before being shipped off to Copenhagen in August.

And he said: "I've already put Rangers behind me.

"It was a good move away because I'm playing regularly and it's good to have a manager who has faith in me."
