Smith was on cue in 92

WALTER SMITH admits his fondest Scottish Cup memory was when he won it in 1992 - the club's first success in the competition for 11 years.

The Ibrox outfit had not lifted the trophy since beating Dundee United 4-1 in the 1981 replay.

But Smith recalled how a semi-final clash with Celtic when they had David Robertson sent off gave Gers the belief they could go on and end that hoodoo.

Walter said: "We had to beat Celtic in the semis and we won despite Davie being sent off.

"We then beat Airdrie 2-1 in the final and it was nice to win the cup after going 11 years without success in the competition.

"The final we have coming up will be our priority after our last league games are over."
