CARLOS CUELLAR last night capped a dream week by winning the Scottish Football Writers' Player of the Year award.
The defender has had an outstanding season and after helping Rangers reach the UEFA Cup Final he edged Celtic's Aiden McGeady to the prestigious prize.
Cuellar is the 12th Ibrox star to receive the accolade following in the famous footsteps of John Greig, Dave Smith, Sandy Jardine, Derek Johnstone, Richard Gough, Ally McCoist, Andy Goram, Mark Hateley, Brian Laudrup, Paul Gascoigne and Barry Ferguson.
The Spaniard will collect his award at the Thistle hotel in Glasgow on May 11 and said: "I'm so happy to win.
"It is a great honour to be voted for by the football writers.
"This award is not only for myself, it is also about recognition for the team and the season we are having."
