Hemdani: I'll Keep Tabs On Diego

ARMCHAIR spy Brahim Hemdani has vowed to put the shackles on dangerman Diego after studying Werder Bremen from his own home.

The Rangers midfield ace admits he scours his satellite TV for big European games and was impressed with Bremen's recent showing against title rivals Bayern Munich.

Diego was outstanding in that 1-1 draw when the Brazilian wreaked havoc in his preferred attacking midfield role.

And Hemdani knows he'll be in the firing line if Walter Smith plays him in his usual holding midfield position that has served Gers so well in Europe this season.

But after top displays against the likes of Lyon star Juninho, Hemdani is relishing the chance to mark another of Europe's most promising talents out of Thursday's game at Ibrox.

He said: "I like to see games from other countries and I was watching German TV at home.

"I managed to catch one of Werder Bremen's matches away to Bayern. It was a big one for them and they did well to get a 1-1 draw.

"They are one of the best teams in Germany.

"They have many talented players who can all make a difference but Diego is one in particular we must watch.

"They try to give him the ball as soon as they can and he has the vision to find the strikers or he looks to score himself.

"Diego will sit just behind the strikers so it will be my responsibility to stop him but it's the kind of challenge I enjoy.

"I will have to be strong but then everyone must be at his best because Bremen is not just focused on one player.

"They are strong as a group and have danger coming from other areas too.

"But how we handle Diego will be important.

"I have previous experience of marking tricky players.

"It would be wrong to say who the best player I have faced in that situation is because they are all so different.

"However, Diego will be a tough challenge."
