Novo's Drought To End Cup Wait

VICTORY over Hearts kicked off a gruelling run of nine games in 32 days that will go a long way to deciding Rangers' season - and Nacho Novo believes they can come out the other end with the glint of silverware beckoning them home.

The fixture backlog will test Walter Smith's squad to its limits. But with the club's last major success almost three years ago - when Novo's goal against Hibs brought the title to Ibrox - the little Spaniard believes the CIS Cup Final on March 16 will be the day they end that long barren spell.

Novo said: "The fans deserve this trophy - it has been a long time since they saw us lift a cup and we'll be doing all we can to change that.

"No one here is thinking that because we're in the final we've already won the game - it will be hard.

"But we'll be fighting for it and are determined to win."
