SCOTT ARFIELD watched Dutch stars Ryan Babel and Royston Drenthe take the Under-21 European Championships by storm last year and wanted to follow in their footsteps.
So the Falkirk midfielder is desperate to be in Sweden next year with Scotland taking on the continent's best kids.
Babel and Drenthe earned moves to Liverpool and Real Madrid thanks to dazzling displays at the Euros. And after a win over Lithuania in midweek, Billy Stark's Scots side could get to the finals if they beat Slovenia and Denmark in their last two qualifiers.
Arfield (far left) said: "There's a feeling we can qualify and do something in the tournament.
"I watched the finals last summer onTV when Holland won. Guys like Babel and Drenthe made a name for themselves and got big moves. When it's on TV people will be watching you."
Scotland now have an Under-21 squad brimming with confidence and Arfield reckons they can beat anyone if Cardiff striker Ross McCormack is on top form.
He said: "Ross has unbelievable skill and it's a privilege to be on the same pitch. But if George Burley wants him for the full squad, I'm sure he'll do a job and deserve his call-up."
