LEE WILKIE refused to write off Dundee United's European dream despite letting three more points slip through the net.
The Arabs skipper reckons they've had enough chances to take nine points out of nine since the SPL split - but instead they've only scraped two.
And with both halves of the Old Firm to face in their last two games as they go to war for the title, he knows United are now looking all the way up Everest from base camp.
He sighed: "I could rattle off 10 things about our performance that frustrated me. The incentive was there too - we knew Motherwell had lost before we started.
"But games are running out now.
"We should have won our three games since the split but haven't and now face the Old Firm.
"Our record is okay against them but it doesn't make life easy."
Boss Craig Levein refused to get down on his team. He shrugged: "It's still in the melting pot because everyone seems to keep dropping points around us as well.
"That was a real opportunity missed though. We gifted Dons goals when we were comfortable and in control.
"Given all the injuries Aberdeen had, that was a game we should have been able to win.
"But we just didn't take advantage of our dominance in possession.
"We also scored a wonderful goal through Danny Swanson, one that deserved to be a match-winner.
"Sadly, the result means it loses any value."
Wilkie added: "Danny is a great talent but it shouldn't take something that special for us to create a chance."
