DUNDEE UNITED boss Craig Levein has admitted even if he wins the CIS Cup today he'll still be seen as a failure.
Levein could complete a remarkable turnaround in his managerial career if his side beat Rangers at Hampden.
But the Arabs boss - sacked by Leicester in 2006 - revealed it wouldn't convince anyone in England he's a good gaffer.
Levein, 43, said: "Even if I won the cup with United and finished high in the SPL I'm not sure people in England would be convinced I'm a good boss.
"It's more about proving to myself I can do it. I made mistakes at Leicester but never doubted I could do the job.
"I want to return to England and show I can do it there."
Meanwhile, Rangers' cup injury crisis has deepened with Chris Burke set to miss today's showpiece due to a bruised ankle sustained in training.
Daniel Cousin is injured and Steven Naismith cup-tied while Nacho Novo and Charlie Adam are banned but Jean-Claude Darcheville is likely to start.
Smith said: "The odds are against Burke but we are hopeful Darcheville will be fit."
