Lenny Must Have Wished He Could Pull On A Jersey

Carmunnock Kid Kyle Foster Had A Busy Day At Celtic Yesterday After Dad Eric Won A Charity Auction For His Seven-Year-Old To Be A Reporter For The Day. Here Is Kyle's Take On The Action.

NEIL LENNON'S return was supposed to give the Celtic players and fans a lift but it didn't turn out that way as Gordon Strachan's side crashed to a shock defeat against 10-man Motherwell.

The former skipper was greeted by a downpour as his beady eyes oversaw the warm-up but sunshine had taken over by the time three o'clock came around.

Lennon received a warm welcome when he took his seat in the dugout and decided to play it low key.

There was a wave to the fans as polite applause rang out but nothing more. He didn't want to steal the spotlight.

Lennon's first involvement came midway through the first half when he chucked a water bottle to Scott Brown during a break in the play. Celtic looked thirsty for a goal but it all went wrong when Motherwell romped ahead.

The opener stunned the Hoops bench and Lennon pointed out how his side could have avoided falling behind.

This was not the homecoming he expected and Lenny must have been wishing he could pull on a shirt again to help the team out.

Boos rang out at half time and I wonder who gave a motivational talk at the break - Strachan or Lennon.

The new Celts coach emerged with a grey hat on for the second half but the action was anything but dull.

Well's Bob Malcolm saw red for a Lennon-esque two-footed challenge that left the ref with no option.

Lennon then had the task of telling the fourth official that Georgios Samaras was coming on for Scott McDonald - a switch that didn't go down well.

Strachan got stick for that and the boos were even louder at full time.

This result places the manager's future in doubt with the league all but over. Maybe Lennon has come back for Strachan's job after all.
