Japan Trip Or Irish Trap

AIDEN McGEADY faces a club v country showdown at the end of the season.

The Celtic star - who is 22 on Friday - is desperate to make an early impression on new Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni in two friendlies and at a training camp in the Algarve.

However, games against Serbia in Dublin on May 24 and Colombia in London five days later look certain to coincide with Celtic's planned tour to Japan after their final league game.

Asked if he'd be going to Japan, McGeady admitted: "I don't know.

"I've got two games with Ireland coming up and, if selected, hopefully I'll be away there. I'm really looking forward to working with Trapattoni."
