Overcoming Barcelona Would Send Shock Waves Around Europe

ERIC ABIDAL reckons when Barcelona lose a game it sends shock waves around Europe.

But the French defender insists if they crash out of the Champions League to Celtic this week it will be like an earthquake Abidal is confident Frank Rijkaard's side will qualify for the last eight after their 3-2 win at Parkhead.

But he refused to dismiss the Scottish champions and believes Barca will need to be on top of their game in the Nou Camp.

He said: "We have a big advantage for the second leg but want to finish the tie as soon as possible.

"Barca feel superior to a team like Celtic but we haven't been confident at the Nou Camp recently.

"We achieved an excellent result in Glasgow although I feelwe-deserved another goal in the second half.

"The entire squad is convinced the game in Spain will be more difficult and complicated than the first leg.

"If we're not at our best and go out after having a 3-2 lead it will be like a massive earthquake!"

After twice losing to Scotland with France, Abidal is taking nothing for granted. He's impressed by the resurgence of our game and admits Celtic's fighting spirit makes them dangerous.

Eric said: "Scottish football has improved so much. I have suffered two defeats with France but had good results against Rangers and Celtic.

"Celtic's biggest quality is their fight and pride on the pitch. But we're better technically and hopefully that will get us the win on Tuesday."
