CELTIC new boy Barry Robson reckons Gordon Strachan's January shopping spree has given his side the edge over rivals Rangers in the SPL title race.
Robson was one of five new faces brought in by the Hoops boss during last month's window and hopes the extra strength in depth will see the champions leapfrog Gers at the top.
The former Dundee United midfielder watched his new side crush Kilmarnock 5-1 at Rugby Park in the cup yesterday .
And he said: "Rangers had a bigger squad at the start of the season so the gaffer knew he had to bring in new faces to create more competition.
"Celtic's squad looks good on paper and now we have to do it on the park.
"When I was with Dundee United you knew Celtic had class all over the pitch and a better quality of player.
"I'm now glad to be a part of this squad and want to do my bit to win trophies."
Robson is the 10th midfielder signed by Strachan for Celtic at a total cost of around £15million.
There is strong competition for places but the 29-year-old reckons hewill be able to hold down a place in the side.
Robson said: "Gordon Strachan has given me a chance and it's up to me to take it. I'm confident I can.
"No player is guaranteed a game so it's all about working hard and impressing."
Robson was released by Rangers as a teenager and is the fourth ex-Ibrox man snapped up by Strachan.
He said: "I was freed by Walter Smith and don't blame them for that decision.
"I was more interested in having a laugh at 17 or 18 than being dedicated to football.
"I now know what's needed and will work hard.
"Maybe I'm similar to Paul Hartley in terms of getting this chance a bit later.
"Paul has also been great for Scotland and I hope to add to my single cap."
