GUTTED Annan boss Harry Cairney admitted his misfiring side have lost their ruthless streak.
Jamie Ewart's opener and a super John Dillon double ended Athletic's hopes of a win at Sheffield Park.
Cairney said: "This is the first time this season we have failed to score and we never really got out of the starting blocks.
"After a good start to the season we've gone off the rails in the last few weeks, conceding six goals."
Ewart opened the scoring in 20 minutes with a simple tap-in.
Athletic looked to equalise and had a shout for a penalty just after the hour when Stuart Callaghan appeared to handle - but their appeals were waved aside.
Annan's Gary Brown was then sent off six minutes later after handling in the box and red-hot Dillon made no mistake from the penalty.
Dillon scored from the spot again in 79 minutes after Lister was pushed.
Delighted Berwick gaffer Alan McGonigal said: "We deserved to win and looked pretty solid with a great performance by our keeper."
