DUMBARTON boss Jim Chapman admitted his side got a wind bonus as they claimed the points needed to avoid finishing bottom.
The Sons stunned East Stirling in the 11th minute when defender Craig Brittain's cross was swept beyond rookie keeper Norman McIntyre by the wind and dropped into the net.
Chapman said: "We got a lucky break - but I'll take them any time. It was hard to play in the conditions, but we dug in. I'm just glad to have finished our home schedule with a win."
Shire boss Jim McInally moaned: "The conditions were dreadful, and I think the game should have been postponed.
"It was like schoolboy football - the team with the wind behind them had a big advantage."
