DELIGHTED Stranraer boss Derek Ferguson insists his men deserved to win after Gregory Tade's header kept their promotion push on track.
Tade ensured his side stayed in second spot when he rose unmarked in 66 minutes to nod home.
Ferguson said: "We dominated and thoroughly merited the victory."
Dumbarton, who lost Mark Canning to sickness before kick off, made a bright start with Michael Stokes filling Canning's place.
But the away side soon took control and showed why they are in the mix to go up.
Craig Potter cleared Tade's header off the line and David Crawford saved well from Steven McConologue.
And in 66 minutes Stranraer edged in front when Tade rose unmarked to head home Andrew Gibson's cross.
Four minutes later any chance the Sons had of salvaging anything was gone whenChris Gentile picked up a second yellow card.
Dumbarton boss Jim Chapman said: "We didn't deserve anything because we were poor."
