DARREN SHALLICKER struck for Elgin in stoppage time to peg back their promotion rivals and salvage a crucial point.
Brian McLaughlin and Scott Dalziel had twice put Stenhousemuir ahead but Shallicker's last-gasp effort gave City a deserved draw.
McLaughlin rifled the Ochilview men into the lead after 25 minutes with a suberb 20-yard drive.
The home side almost doubled their lead before the break when Willie Lyle chipped Ali Ridgers but his effort drifted just wide.
Shallicker had a chance to equalise after the hour but Alistair Brown denied him with a fine stop.
Paul Kaczan was unlucky to see a goal chalked off for offside as Elgin pressed for a breakthrough.
City were back on level terms in 72 minutes when Craig Campbell's shot was deflected into his own net by Alan Gilbride The Warriors restored their lead within a minute with Dalziel firing home after Ridgers could only parry Ian Harty's cutback.
But City continued to plug away and Shallicker pounced to net a leveller right at the death.
