Montrose 2-0 East Stirling

MONTROSE gaffer Jim Weir was a satisfied man after his side stayed on course for the play-offs.

He said: "We deserved to win although the conditions were terrible for playing football.

"We train all week in decent weather then someone turns on a wind machine at the weekend.

"We got our noses in front in the second half and, though a bit nervous near the end, Paul Stewart broke away to wrap it up."

East Stirling caretaker John Brownlie said: "We didn't deserve anything, particularly after the way we lost the first goal. We gave the ball away.

"We pushed for it towards the end and went man for man at the back and Montrose scored again."

Shire had the wind in the first half but Montrose had the better chances and went close in 16 minutes through Roddy Hunter then Craig Forsyth soon after.

Montrose scored in 54 minutes when a Hunter header was parried by GaryO'Connor and Garry Wood netted the rebound.

Montrose sealed it in added time when Wood played the ball through for sub Stewart to score.
