Floody Hell Fixture Chaos

HEAVY downpours played havoc with yesterday's fixtures in Scotland and several matches were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

The First Division clash between Stirling Albion and Dunfermline at Forthbank had to be cancelled after a morning pitch inspection.

In the Second Division the Airdrie United v Ayr United match at Excelsior Stadium was an early casualty with the flooded pitch forcing the game to be called off on Friday.

Two other games in the division were later affected with the Ross County v Brechin and Queen's Park v Cowdenbeath matches postponed yesterday morning.

Four matches survived the sodden conditions in the Third Division, the Dumbarton v Forfar game the only casualty.

The Highland League also suffered with the Keith v Rothes and Clachnacuddin v Fort William games cancelled.

With more rain forecast this week a host of games scheduled for Tuesday in all three divisions of the SFL are under threat.

Wednesday's SPL clash at Fir Park between Gretna and St Mirren is also in danger. With most clubs due to play in midweek the SFL have not yet set new dates for yesterday's matches although they are pencilled in for Tuesday March 18.
